Mitsubishi Outlander

Introduction:

The mid-size crossover Mitsubishi Outlander was introduced by Japanese automobile manufacturer, Mitsubishi Motors and was originally known by the name of Mitsubishi Airtrek. Mitsubishi Outlander, in its third generation currently relies on Mitsubishi GS platform and was unveiled at 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Mitsubishi Outlander is related to Mitsubishi Grandis, Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi RVR, Peugeot 4007, Dodge Caliber and Citroen C-Crosser. Outlander is one of the prominent SUV launched by Mitsubishi which is capable of accommodating seven passengers in it with all wheel drive.

Engine, Mileage and Variants:

The high performance output of Mitsubishi Outlander is delivered by its 2.4 liter robust engine with 16 valves, inline 4 cylinders, MIVEC SOHC specification. The 2.4 liter powerful engine produces maximum power of 166 Hp at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 222 Nm at 4100 rpm. The CVT auto transmission is butter-smooth and helps Outlander to maintain speeds at will. Outlander accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometres in 10.8 seconds time attaining a maximum speed of 195 kmph. The fuel consumption calculated for Outlander is 8.7 kmpl on an average by its 2.4 liter engine.

Exteriors:

Mitsubishi Outlander has got eye-captivating exteriors features. The radiator grille with chrome accent is embossed with Mitsubishi logo on its center. The super wide HID headlamps integrated with headlamp washers and front fog lamps with silver bezel not only enhances its exterior character but also enhances visibility at night. Rear view of Outlander includes elegantly shaped taillights with tail gate garnished with chrome, rear spoiler with high mounted stop lamp and a roof rail. The Outlander stands tall on its large 18 inch alloy wheels measuring 225/55 R18. Mitsubishi Outlander incorporates an exterior dimension of 4655.8 mm X 1800.8 mm X 1678.9 mm (L X W X H) with a wheelbase of 2669.5 mm.

Interiors:

The instrument cluster is a combination of multi-information display and a meter cluster with mono-color liquid crystal display which displays all the vehicle related information such as top speed, digital clock and more. The audio system is comprised of a 2 DIN sound system with a touch panel display that includes audio visual display with AM, FM and CD player in it further connected via a USB and AUX port with 6 speakers and 2 tweeters. The rear view camera displays rear view on the touch screen display with GPS navigation system. A comforting riding experience is gained via leather upholstery with ample of space provided inside the car.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

Safety in Mitsubishi Outlander is ensured by Ventilated disc brakes in front and solid disc brakes in its rear, all of which are mated with an Anti-lock braking system in it with electronic brake-force distribution. Front suspension is carried by McPherson strut with stabilizer bar and rear suspension is carried by Multi-link with stabilizer bar. Outlander comes packed with a set of airbags that includes front seat side airbags with curtain airbags and knee airbags for driver. Rest of the safety features includes an engine immobilizer, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control Logic, Tire pressure monitoring system, Security alarm system and brake override system.

Verdict:

Mitsubishi Outlander is fascinated with high quality interiors and stylish exterior design. Its 7 seater capacity along with off-roading skills is definitely a plus but the only downfall remains its cramped 3rd row seating.
