Mitsubishi ASX

Introduction:

Mitsubishi ASX is a stylish crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors. This vehicle was first introduced in the year 2007 at Frankfurt Motor Show. The designing and engineering of this 5-door crossover is based on the Mitsubishi Concept-cX. Against its competitors in the Sri Lankan auto market, Mitsubishi ASX is trying hard to prevent the position it holds with the large enhancement to the GLS variant available for the country residents.

Engine, mileage & variants:

The new Mitsubishi ASX comes in single version GLS for the Sri Lankan customers equipped with standard 2.0-litre, 16 valve MIVEC engine which is employed with Multipoint sequential injection enhancing the performance and fuel consumption of the vehicle. It churns out maximum power output of 147 PS at 6000 rpm along with the peak torque of 199 Nm at 4200 revolutions. It takes 10.5 seconds to acquire the speed mark of 0 to 100 kmph. The top speed for the same clocks at 190 kmph. Moreover, ASX’s enormous power and performance is not compromised with the fuel consumption which brings the fair mileage of 7.4 litres to a 100km in combined driving cycle.

Exteriors:

The front profile of this appealing crossover is accentuated with finished radiator grille adorned with chrome detailing. The first impression was recognized by its standard dimensions measuring as 4295 mm x 1770 mm x 1625 mm (L x W x H) and the wheelbase for this crossover remains as 2670 mm. The large and sturdy 17-inch alloy wheels, embracing the tyre size of 215/60 R17 makes further enhancements to its aerodynamic body style.

Interiors:

Inside, the Mitsubishi ASX comprises a great combination of numerous smart technology and state-of-the-art design. This classy cabin of the crossover encloses automatic air conditioning system that adjusts the temperature inside, multi-function steering wheel wrapped with high quality leather and paddle shifters for convenient handling. The other big improvement to the interior is its seating arrangement, consisting soft leather covered seat with heating system and electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Moreover, this compact crossover offers the maximum boot volume of 442-litres. To make your ride more interesting, the latest ASX is embedded with 2-DIN touch panel display featuring rear view camera, Rockford Fosgate audio system comprising of AM/FM and CD player with nine speakers surrounded system.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

To ensure safety and security of its occupants, the new Mitsubishi is embedded with airbags system for driver and front seat passenger which can be activated depending upon the situation. This stylish crossover offers dynamic braking system consisting ventilated disc brakes for front wheels and drum brakes for the rear. Accentuating its braking system, the ASX is provided with ABS and EBD which applies the right amount of force at the event of sudden braking. Furthermore, this proposes decent suspension as it embraces McPherson strut with coil springs and stabilizer bar in the front axle and multi-link with stabilizer as rear suspension. HSA prevents the rolling back movement of the vehicle in hilly tracks.

Verdict:

Mitsubishi ASX is an adorable crossover that reveals spacious cabin, fun handling and fuel economic engine at competitive pricing. However, lack of engine options and a heavy steering does add some flaws to this otherwise brilliant crossover.
