Introduction

Mitsubishi has been a popular and preferred brand in the Sri Lankan market. Just like other Japanese brands, Mitsubishi has also been in the competitive race and is liked by many as an office use and family car in the country. The brand introduced the new Lancer Ex, a subcompact Sedan which became very popular in the country in no time. Lancer is running on its fifth generation at present in the country. The current CY2A/CZ4A variant and the previous variant of the car are popular in the country. Lancer has proved to be a classy sporty looking car and is proudly driven on the roads of the country among the classy luxury cars.

Engine, mileage & variants

The Lancer Ex comes with a 1.6 litre petrol engine with 16 valves that delivers a Maximum Output of 117 PS @ 6000 rpm along with a Maximum Torque of 154 Nm @ 4000 rpm. It comes with a 4 Speed Automatic Transmission in the country delivering a mileage of 13.7 kmpl and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km in just 10.8 seconds delivering a top speed of 190 kmph. The overall performance of the car is splendid and quite impressive for a sub-compact Sedan to be smoothly driven on the roads of the country.

Exteriors

The Sedan has got a very appealing, eye striking smart look with a sporty feel. The front grille of the car has got a silver outlining strip highlighting the grille in a distinct way and a body color bar in the middle with the Logo that gives the car a bold stance from the front. The bonnet has got curvy horizontal lines making its design look different and the sides have character lines running across the gate handles. It has discharge headlamps with adaptive front light system and reflector type fog lamps. The front and rear windshields are laminated with tempered green glass giving the car a brighter look. The rear of the car has got an amazing sporty design with tail lamps half stretched to the tail gate in a swept back diagonal shape which along with the rear spoiler highlight the Mitsubishi's style. The car stands at 4625mm x 1760mm x 1480mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 2635mm. The Lancer Ex sits on 16 inch Alloy wheels with a tire size of 205/60 R16 which help make the ride a pleasant one.

Interiors

Mitsubishi Lancer Ex has got optional color tone interiors for the country. It has got single as well as dual tone interiors which is a choice for the buyer. The dual tone interior sports an elegant wooden finish on the central console and on the dashboard which also runs along the doors as well separating the two tones. The car has got a 3 spoke leather steering wheel with control buttons mounted on it. The dashboard is given a very long flat look with a wide 2 DIN center panel and touch panel display audio unit. The MID has combination meter cluster with rheostat and tachometer along with the speedometer and is given a very stylish sporty look with chrome rings. Interiors have other distinct features like Can type ashtray for front seats, cigar lighter, classy gear box design and floor console box with cloth covered lid. Doors trims have synthetic leather insert and stitch and the inner door handles are of chrome. The AC controls are located in middle of the centre console on a cylindrical panel with chrome outlining. The seats are fabricated and the driver seat has height adjuster feature as well. Overall the design from the inside is very wide looking and stunning to sit in.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

Basic safety features have been installed in the Mitsubishi Lancer Ex. Driver's & front passenger's dual stage airbags have been installed along with centre door locking system, keyless entry with transmitter, Immobilizer, ventilated front disc brakes and leading and trailing drum brakes, Child-protection rear door locks, High-mount stop lamp and ABS with EBD. All necessary basic features of safety are available in the Sedan which are descent enough for driver and passenger safety.

Mitsubishi Lancer Ex is a beautiful sporty looking car with fancy exterior features and has got a futuristic broad look from the inside.
