Introduction:

For the ones who wish to own a powerful yet athletic vehicle, the elite German automaker has introduced another prominent model in the renowned X series. The masculine look, efficient off- roading capabilities and the athleticism of a coupe, the X6 was first introduced in the year 2007 and since then it is now renowned as a distinct segment across the globe. The car is a mid-size Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) by the brand, which is exclusively trendy and functional crossover. Currently in its second generation the X6 has high stakes that Sri-Lankan market is expected to fulfill in an effective manner.

The crossover has been offered with 2 petrol and 3 diesel engines which are further coupled with TwinPower TwinTurbo technology to boost the efficiency. Along with these acceleration and power heights, the car promises you a fairly decent combined fuel economy of 8 to 13 kmpl depending on the engine.

Exterior:

There are coupes and there are SUVs and now there is X6 which is a car like no other. The apparent contrasts like agility, sporting character, elegance and size all together makes it phenomenal. The sharp grille extended LED headlights, the robust and masculine front facade and the sharp edges flowing over the bonnet indicates the potential enclosed in the stylish hunk. The cabin is entirely evolved by focusing on the driver, and the fine craftsmanship along with a choice of lightning option by the designers gives the occupants a peaceful ambiance. The Band & Olufsen high-end Surround Sound system, rear seat entertainment professional with 9.2-inch monitors and air conditioning system. The divine ergonomics enclosed in the cockpit is a product of the soul intuitive control panel and illuminated infotainment system compatible with 10.25-inch LCD screen with split-function and navigation system, BMW Head-up display, sporty leather steering wheel and sporty-shaped gear selector. On the practicality front the X6 has a quite decent score as with a standard-feature 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat bench it offers a boot space of 580 liters, which can be further enhanced to maximum of 1525 liters.

Safety, braking and miscellaneous:

German Automaker has always come up with cars that are smooth and occupied with upbeat safety features. The combination of McPherson Strut suspension at front and Multi-link suspension to rear allows a calm and stable ride all through the journey. Equipped with Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD) the brakes used in the X6 are ventilated disc type both at the rear as well as to the front. Verdict:

The spacious cabin, great driving position and improved performance makes X6 a winner in various aspects. But, the unorthodox look, and higher pricing makes the other competitors position slightly higher than X6 in the market. Make no mistake, this can be a stylish soft roader but the X6 fails to impress when taken on harsh terrains where it is not comfortable at all.
