Suzuki Celerio

Introduction

The Indo-Japanese automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is a mass market player that sells a complete range of cars ranging from hatchbacks like Alto to SUVs like Vitara. With growing popularity and an increase in sales and service network within Sri Lanka, Maruti Suzuki has recently offered a new car in its lineup of popular hatchbacks i.e. the Celerio. It has been launched keeping in mind the buyers who are looking to go for a car above its Alto category that encapsulates the Suzuki trust along with features and equipment.

Engine, mileage & variants

Using the Drive by wire technology the Celerio is powered by a K10B 998 cc aluminum type 3 cylinder which delivers a total power output of 50 kW at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The merit of the Celerio is its Auto gear shift transmission option along with the manual shift which makes driving in the traffic effortless. The Celerio with its efficient dynamics is capable enough to provide a mileage of 23.1 kmpl under standard driving conditions.

Exteriors

Celerio offers pleasing aesthetics with its dimensions spreading to 3600mm x 1600mm x 1560mm (L x B x H) with a wheelbase of 2425mm to support the drive effort. The curved twin chrome slat grille provides a touch of elegance to the drive along with swooping character lines running on the side of the Celerio. Fog lamps are also placed neatly on the bumper which houses a large air-dam. When opting for the top variants i.e. VXi and above one can get neat looking 14 inch alloy wheels measuring 165/70 R14.

Interiors

A roomy space for 5 and spacious interior with legroom, headroom at your service, helps you make the intelligent choice along with the 60:40 seat split ability instilled in the rear seats. Along with the same you also get comfortable boot space of 235 litres which adds an edge to it for anything and everything. To help you with the things, it is instilled with 15 smart utility spaces to provide utility assistance. The tilt enabled power steering wheel gives you the comfort for a jam-trodden journey that dawns ahead of you along with the ease of steering mounted audio controls for bluetooth and stereo. You also get multi-info display to provide essentials of fuel efficiency, gear shift etc.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

With the front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes and ABS enabled braking system in agreement with the McPherson Strut suspension system commands efficient working. Also the child proof rear door locks increases the safety features on the drive. With the Auto gear shift system to handle the hydraulic actuator in turn to be concerned with the clutch operations to work optimally for manual transmission.

Verdict:

With an improvement over its siblings, and an addition of auto gear shift does make the new Celerio a unique car in its segment. However, the average looks can be a deal breaker for some.
