Mercedes-Benz CLS Class Coupe

Introduction:

After its launch in 2004, the CLS did not received the kind of response the German automaker was expecting. Whereas, the 5.4 litre V8 engine is the most potent among the petrol engines which delivers a maximum power of 430 kW at 5500 rpm and the peak torque measures 800 Nm at mere 1750 – 5000 rpm. One can clock 100 kmph mark in a time span ranging between 6.1 to 3.7 seconds depending on the variant you opt for, while the top speed for CLS measures an electronically limited 250 kmph. The enormous power has not overlooked the fuel economy front and CLS delivers a fair mileage ranging between 10 to 14.4 kmpl.

Exteriors:

The CLS will leave you speechless, the moment you will put your eyes on its coupe avatar. The designers have given a clear styling with well defined edges and curves that reveals an artistic design. The long, sloping bonnet flows into the new design and the side curves gives CLS an undiluted aesthetic appeal. The overall dimensions of the car measures (4937 X 1881 X 1418) mm (L X B X H) and the wheelbase measures 2874 mm that gives enough stability and cabin space to the occupants. To further enhance the performance of the car, it is equipped with 18 inches alloy wheels with tyre size measuring 255/ 40 R18 and one can also upgrade the tyre size to 19 inches wheel according to the need.

Interiors:

The cabin of Mercedes Benz CLS Class is a place where one can find the highest level of peace in the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic. The active multi-contour seat enables a particularly precise adjustment to individual seating needs and the ambient lighting option further creates a pleasant environment within. Besides that, the car has been embodied with several multimedia and audio features, which includes a large TFT color touchscreen with navigation, the most notable of them being the advanced 610W Harman Kardon Logic 7 Surround System, which works in the combination with Dolby Digital 5.1 system to give an enhanced acoustic experience. The boot space provided is impressive and measures 520 litres which can further be enhanced with the 60:40 arrangement.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

The suspension system of the car comprises of multi link alignment with twin tube gas filled coil springs that helps in achieving a smooth drive on varied terrain conditions. The ventilated disc brakes are accompanied with Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake- Force Distribution System (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) which collaboratively provide effective braking system to the car. In addition to this the safety features include the Air bag system (Front, side and curtain) along with include Attention Assist, Night view assist plus system, Electronic Stability Programme and the multilingual Rescue Guidelines.
