Introduction :

The Japanese car maker firstly featured the new KODO- soul of motion design language in its compact crossover SUV, CX5 produced in 2011. The CX5 shared the platform with Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. The Mazda CX5 was the first model to feature the company's full Skyactiv technology suite, featuring a rigid, lightweight platform combined with series of efficient engine and transmission. While design was based on the Mazda MINAGI, it replaced Tribute and CX-7. The recent facelift model got some changes which are reflected to exterior styling and tranquil ride with improved infotainment system.

CX-5's interior is spacious and inviting with making ample of room for front seat and rear seat passengers. The sumptuous and supportive seats finished with stylish black premium cloth trim with the ample legroom makes it completely comfortable. The standard boot space with all seats up measures 403 litres which is quite impressive. It also features the innovative seating system with 40/20/40 split independent rear seat, which fold flat at the flick of lever creating a large functional luggage space. As you sit onto the drivers seat, all the controls and dials are in easy reach. A 5.8 inch touch screen display gives the information into your fingertips. The multimedia commander allows the easy control of audio and navigation system. The seats in the CX-5 are foldable flat in one movement which frees up a healthy 1620 liter luggage space.

Safety, Brakes and Miscellaneous :

The smart key less entry system makes egress and ingress easy with smart key-less entry system. Further there are numerous safety measures which are followed by the CX-5. The 3 point seat belt pretensioner is equipped with warning system which alerts the customer if seat belts are not tied. The front wheels are coupled with ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels are incorporated with solid disc brake which are further engineered with the four wheel ABS and EBD technology. The rear parking camera assist while steering back and parking situation. Further the passive safety is ensured with the dual front and side airbags system.

Verdict:

The desired handling capability with better fuel economy is achieved with the use of advanced indigenous technology while the neatly designed cabin features makes CX-5 more attractive. The lack of a Diesel engine and manual transmission does put a dent in the overall package of this magnificent crossover SUV.
