Overview

The all new Mazda 3 Sedan is introduced in the Sri Lankan Auto market with their newly developed SkyActiv technology, a new 6-speed transmission and a list of powerful engines supported with a more rigid body and a sportier design. Mazda 3 Sedan has been a power packed venture of the brand since its inception. With the release of its 3rd generation model, the brand has become a solid competition in the market for sporty Sedans in the race. It comes with 3 petrol engine options in the country, MZR 1.6, SkyActiv G 1.5 and SkyActiv G 2.0. The MZR 1.6 litre engine churns out a maximum output of 77 kW at 6000 rpm along with a maximum torque of 143 Nm at 4000 rpm whereas the new SkyActiv technology engine with G 1.5 litre displacement delivers a maximum output of 88 kW at 6000 rpm along with a maximum torque of 150 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its bigger sibling, the G 2.0 litre engine delivers a maximum power output of 121 kW at 6000 rpm with the Automatic transmission along with a maximum torque of 210 Nm at 4000 rpm, and 114 kW at 6000 rpm with the Manual transmission along with a peak torque of 200 Nm at 4000 rpm. Lavishing exterior looks are possessed by the Sedan with sleek swept back Halogen headlamps, broad chrome finished black front grille, sculpted body colored front bumper and a slant bonnet design on the front, dazzling body lines on the sides with chrome finished window panel and body colored ORVM, and on the rear the Sedan has a distinguished carved design running through the tail gate and the rear body colored bumper to which the sleek long swept to sides tail lamps add on. From the inside the Sedan has elegant leather finished design, leather seats, gearshift knob, steering wheel and the hand brake. Stunning usage of chrome has been done on the dashboard, AC dust surrounds, gearshift surrounds, steering wheel and the inner door handles. A distinct Audio unit is encased in the Sedan which has a 7 inch display screen with Bluetooth and navigation support. The most impressive part of the Sedan are its advanced safety features. Mileage and Fuel economy

The mileage delivery has been improved with the new SkyActiv technology in the Sedan. The 1.5 litre delivers an overall mileage of 15.1 kmpl whereas the 2.0 litre engine delivers 11.9 kmpl as the city mileage and 17.2 kmpl as the highway mileage.

Power

Power is a definite quality of the Sedan to be praised. Three engines are offered in the Sedan. Acceleration & Pickup

The acceleration offered by the 4 speed auto transmission of MZR 1.6 litre engine counts 12.5 seconds from a halt to 100 kmph with a top speed of 180 kmph. On the other hand the 6 speed auto transmission SkyActiv 2.0 litre one offers 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.

Exterior

The Sedan has got a stunning exterior look with sleek swept back Halogen headlamps with day time running lights, broad chrome finished black front grille, sculpted body colored front bumper and a slant bonnet design on the front, with bright dazzling body lines on the sides with chrome finished window panel and body colored ORVM with turn indicators, and on the rear the Sedan has a distinguished carved design running through the tail gate and the rear body colored bumper. Adding to this the sleek long swept to sides LED tail lamps are very distinct in shape which is accompanied by a body colored rear spoiler and black skid plates. The Sedan has a very distinguishing carved design with a lot of body detailing which is the most impressive reason for the buyers to tilt in its favor leaving behind the other rival Sedans.

Exterior Measurements

The dimensions of the Sedan clearly display how long and spacious it is with 4580mm x 1795mm x 1450mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 2700mm. The occupants will surely enjoy the luxurious space adding to their comfort.

Interior

An elegant leather finished design is possessed by the Sedan with leather seats in most of the variants, leather gearshift knob, steering wheel and the hand brake. Chrome has been optimally used in the interiors on the dashboard, AC dust surrounds, gearshift surrounds, MID surrounds, steering wheel and the inner door handles. With the long wheelbase, the Sedan gets a huge legroom along with a wide cabin space. A simple yet elegant interior design is encased in the Sedan.

Interior Comfort

Comfortable seating with good under thigh support, adjustable front and rear headrests and adjustable front seats is equipped in the Sedan. Centre console has a driver arm rest, 2 cup holders for the front and also the rear seats have an arm rest in the middle with cup holders for comfort of the 2 rear passengers. The chrome finished power steering wheel has infotainment controls mounted for driver's comfort with Bluetooth connect and navigation controls of the 7 inch touch screen Multi function Display. Stereo and Accessories

A 7 inch touch screen Multi-function Display with all the new technology Infotainment features is provided in the Sedan in all top variants. The audio unit has FM/Radio, Aux-in and USB supports along with comfort features like Bluetooth and navigation. The controls of this Infotainment unit are mounted on the steering wheel providing an ease and comfort to the driver to connect the phone and use it for calling and playing songs from the playlist. 6 speakers are attached to this Audio system for providing premium sound quality and entertainment to the occupants.

Wheels

Mazda has offered options of Steel as well as Alloy wheels for the 3 Sedan variants. The Steel wheels have a Rim size of 16 inch with a tyre size of 205/60 R16 while the Alloy wheels range from a Rim size of 16inch-18 inch with tyre size of 205/60 R16 and 215/45 R18 respectively. Both the wheel types provide a smooth ride in varied terrains.

Braking and Handling

Not much of advanced braking features are equipped in the Sedan except ventilated front disc brakes and rear solid disc brakes with ABS ( Auto braking system) and Dynamic stability control, which helps control the handling of the Sedan.

Safety and Security

Other than braking, the rest safety features are well equipped with advanced technology. A high beam control system, rear vehicle monitoring system, and lane departure warning system are the efficient safety providers to the driver and the occupants with front, side and rear airbags, curtain and side curtain saving them from injuries. All these are equipped in most of the variants of the Mazda 3 Sedan. Safety is something not overlooked by the brand in this 3rd generation venture.
