The South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors has been giving tough competition to the popular hatchbacks in the country with its adorable venture Rio which got a successor alternative the Rio Sedan. Both the hatchback and the Sedan got various facelifts since the first generation and are currently in their third generation. The Sedan variant of the Rio is giving a tough competition to other popular Sedans in the country with its supreme design and style. It offers 2 engine types in the country Kappa 1.2 litre petrol engine and Gamma 1.4 litre petrol engine. The 1.2 litre engine delivers a maximum output of 84 PS at 6000 rpm along with a maximum torque of 120 Nm at 4000 rpm whereas the 1.4 litre engine churns out a maximum power of 107 PS at 6300 rpm along with a maximum torque of 135 Nm at 4200 rpm. The Sedan has got a very distinct design with curvy side profile and defining body lines that gives a distinguished shape to the Sedan. The broad winged headlamps and the chrome finished front grille along with body colored bumper and slant bonnet add to the charm of the Sedan. The rear body colored bumper has curvy edges and a wide stance with LED tail lamps swept to the sides. The inside of the Sedan has leather finish all over with leather seats, leather steering wheel and door trims and console arm rest. The 1.2 litre engine with Auto transmission reaches the 100 kmph mark from a halt in 13.5 seconds with a top speed of 170 kmph whereas the 1.4 litre engine accelerates from a standstill to 100 kmph in 12.5 seconds with a top speed of 183 kmph.

The dashboard has a wide design with color tone options and the usage of chrome has been done very elegantly in the entire interior starting from the steering wheel to the AC vent surrounds, Audio unit panel surrounds, climate control panel surrounds, around the gear box and the inner door handles. Overall, a classy finish has been given to the Sedan from the inside.

Interior Comfort

Numerous comfort features like sunroof, cooled glove box, metal pedal pads, adjustable centre console armrest, auto defogger and solar control glass are equipped inside the Sedan. A lot of infotainment controls are mounted on the Steering wheel. All the audio controls along with call answer and reject buttons are available on the steering wheel for the driver's comfort and safety so that the eyes remain on the roads. One can connect its phone with the Bluetooth to the Audio unit and accept, reject calls and change the songs. Performance wise the Sedan delivers a decent output along with an impressive mileage. Just the acceleration could have been better but with these torque figures, it is still decent.

Stereo and Accessories

A 2 DIN Audio unit is equipped in the Sedan with a Multi-function Display screen. This Audio unit has Aux-in, USB and MP3 facilities with which one can connect the phone and listen to their playlist along with additions like Radio and a CD player. Along with these features a distinct Bluetooth feature is also supported which enables you to connect your phone, play songs and accept and rejects calls. Adding to this feature are the control buttons mounted on the steering wheel to accept and reject the incoming calls. Entertainment wise also the car is well equipped and the remote controls on the steering wheel provides free hand usage of all features to the driver.

Rio Sedan has offered certain options for the wheels according to the variants. It offers 2 varieties of Steel Wheels, a 14-inch and a 15-inch with full wheel caps and 2 varieties of Alloy Wheels with a Rim size of 15-inch and 17-inch. Both the Alloy wheels have distinct designs giving a sporty look to the aerodynamic Sedan.

Braking and Handling

Firm braking features are equipped in the Sedan with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes accompanied by ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) . The handling of the Sedan becomes smooth with these brake controls preventing the wheels from getting interlocked and going off-track and the smoothness in the ride remains continued.

The Sedan comes with well equipped safety features.
