Ford Figo

Introduction

Ford Figo is a subcompact hatchback manufactured by Ford India. Figo has been famous in developing countries because of the quality features it offers in a nominal price range. Ford is a brand which manufactures all range and style car variants from subcompact hatchbacks to luxury SUVs and even sports cars. Ford Figo is appreciated by the Sri Lankan economy as well because of its affordable price range and stylish features.

Engine, Mileage and Variants

Ford has introduced Figo with the 1.4 litre Ambiente petrol engine in the country which churns out a maximum output of 62 kW @ 6000 rpm along with a maximum torque of 127 Nm @ 4000 rpm. A combined mileage delivered by the hatch is 15.1 kmpl. Figo accelerates from a standstill to 100 kmph in 13.1 seconds with a top speed of 169 kmph. A decent delivery of power with an impressive mileage is delivered by the hatchback.

Exteriors

A sporty look with broad eagle-eye shaped combination head lamps is obtained by the hatch design to an extent. The broad front grille with chrome finish and brand's Logo along with the black base fog lamps add to this sporty look. From the sides the fine body lines with body colored door handles and side mirrors and black window panels provide a detailing to the simple design of the hatchback. At the rear the combination tail lamps and chrome accent on the tail gate with body colored bumpers give the car a subtle rear look. Ford Figo measures 3795 mm x 1680 mm x 1427 mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 2489 mm and the wheels are 14 inch steel ones with full wheel caps. Overall the appearance of the hatch is admirable under the Ford badge.

Interiors

The 5 seater hatchback is a combination of comfort and spaciousness. Space wise the hatchback is sufficiently equipped with adequate cabin and luggage space and additional storage compartments like the cup holders. Other comfort features encased in the car are Height adjustable steering column, driver and front passengers sun visors, manual air conditioning system, a digital clock, a 12 volt power socket in the front centre console, a Power assisted steering, power front windows and power side view mirrors. The Audio system has AM/FM support, CD player and MP3 compatibility, and an Auxiliary jack with two speakers. Overall the interiors are simple, sober and subtle.

Safety, braking and miscellaneous

The braking system consists of disc brakes in front and drum brakes in rear and that also comes accompanied by Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) with EBD, and High mounted stop lamps for an effective braking and safety practice. Dual front air bags along with 3- point safety belts ensure about the safety of the occupants and the driver, if the car collides with anything. Other than these the car has an immobilizer, a child proof lock and key operated manual central locking. All these features are new and rare to be found in other subcompact hatchbacks of its kind.
